7 July 2006- METS reported at Shell / Coaster Shipowner Superintendents' Safety Meeting 2006 that 26 participants from the following companies had since April 2006, successfully completed METS Shipboard Crisis Management Course -

28-30 July & 4-6 Aug 2006- METS had the honour of conducting 2 runs of its 3-day Bridge Team Management Course for officers of BW Shipping Managers. Shiphandling


10 Aug 2006- Senior masters of Semua Shipping Group of Sarawak attended METS' high-performance 12-hour Shiphandling for Masters and Mates Course.


18 Aug 2006- In a drive to help develop future Singapore's maritime professionals, METS sponsored a group of 24 K1 & K2 children and their parents and teachers from PAP Community Foundation (PCF) Ayer Rajah KindergartenPort tour on a water tour of the port to spur the young minds interest in maritime career. It was the first time the children and their parents and teachers saw our busy port in action and the young minds, in particular, were captivated by the robustness of the port activities in sight.


B+H CAP


28 to 30 Aug 2006- B+H Equimar Sea Personnel and Safety Managers attended a trial METS-Command Assessment Programme (CAP) to evaluate its effectiveness for masters of B+H fleet of chemical tankers and OBOs.


Database 1 Sep 2006- Info@SEA appointed METS to be its agent for marketing and sales of its products.


2 Sep 2006- To continue to build on the excellent quality standards of their tanker operations, more masters and superintendents of Hong Lam Marine, Petroships and Tomaya Shipping Co Pte Ltd attended METS' 1-day Simulation Shipboard Crisis Management Course on 2 Sep 06 to hone their skills in managing shipboard crises.


11 Sep 2006- Canter Singapore's masters and chief officers attended METS' 3-day Bridge Team Management (BTM) Course to build up better efficient bridge teams within its fleet. At the end of the course, participants gave METS BTM Course a "thumbs up" grading.

MAS Academy

18 Sep 2006- METS visited MAS Academy in Bangladesh to discuss collaborations in maritime training.



MarTech

13 Oct 2006- Capt Hilbert Fernandez presented a paper on "Command Assessment Programme (CAP) to Enhance the Selection of Shipmasters" at MARTECH 2006 organized by Singapore Maritime Academy. The presentation attracted a lot of interest and hot debate on the application of such psychological assessments for senior management level officers on board ships. The consensus was that such assessment methodology isone of the many tools and NOT the only tool for assessing the leadership qualities of such officers.


Martech CAP


10-12 Nov 2006- B+H Equimar masters who attended METS-Command Assessment Programme (CAP) were initially a little unsure about the usefulness of the programme. At the end of the programme, they were asking for such programmes to be repeated every 2 years by the participants. Obviously they found the evaluation useful and accurate!


End of Nov 2006- AP Moller Singapore, the largest valued client of METS is a MNC that takes the most serious view on its officer training and selection process. More than 40 of its management-level ship officers had attended 12 runs of METS-Command Assessment Programme within a short period of 8 months. Promising more officers to undergo such programme in 2007, AP Moller Singapore has in many ways contributed to maritime training in Singapore in support of Singapore's aspiration of being an International Maritime Centre (IMC).


METS celebrated its 1st Anniversary in met in December 2006 and is gearing into 2007 with continued supports from its valued partners and customers! Thank you ALL!


Seminar19 Mar 2007- METS ran a Seminar on "Learning from Navigational Accidents" for Senior Deck Officers of B+H Equimar Singapore Pte Ltd at the ISC. The Seminar covered dissection and learning from various past major vessel collisions and grounding accidents. Two prominent cases were also remade by simulation using the bridge simulators and presented to the participants. MPA officer was also engaged to present a topic on "Learning from Recent Navigational Accidents in Singapore Strait". Participants were all thumbs-up on the outcomes of the seminar and were full of praises for ISC facilities.
